EvenMate Suite

 
EvenMate is a suite of software modules and hardware interfaces able to take the amazing Eventide experience to the next level (H8000, Orville and compatibles)*. The EvenMate objective is focused on the integration of the Eventide audio boxes and the PC platform. To achieve the highest performance the communication between both environments is performed using exactly the same high speed protocol used by the existing hardware remote control  EVE/NET*. This page assumes basic knowledge of Eventide audio boxes and  EVE/NET.

The interface:
The connection between the PC and the audio box deserves a few words. This data link is based on a gateway interface which is able to convert the PC-side USB protocol into the network standard offered at the audio box rear panel EVE/NET connector. We'd like to stress the fact that the connection between the interface and the audio box is compliant with an ISO industry network standard similar to Ethernet. This ensures making this connection is as safe as using an USB-to-Ethernet interface or any other interface between two recognized protocol standards.

Suite components:

  • EvenMate RC: This is the main software module. It implements a multi-instance remote control able to handle audio boxes. 

  • EvenMate Vsig Integration: This software module integrates Vsig. It allows the use of Vsig avoiding the slow serial connection.

  • EvenMate MIDI Driver: The third software module is a WDM MIDI device driver which is able to transmit MIDI messages between PC audio applications (Nuendo, Cubase, Sonar, etc*) and the audio boxes.

The use of the above mentioned interface and its associated driver makes every software module and audio box an independent network entity. In this way more than one EvenMate module is able to talk to the audio box/es and also among themselves -simultaneously-. i.e. Designing a patch using Vsig, sending that patch to the audio box, and being able to give the patch a try using EvenMate RC without closing Vsig is a reality today.

Beta Testing:
 Today (FEB-2005) the EvenMate suite is in an advanced internal alpha testing phase. The software prototypes have the core functions working and the overall design is stable and mature.
